The State of Kuwait, headed by His Excellency Ambassador Mutlaq Al-Thuwaimeer, and with a delegation including representatives from the Environment Public Authority and several national entities, is participating in the United Nations Conference on Combating Desertification (UNCCD COP17), held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, under the theme: “Restoring Land, Restoring Hope.”

The Environment Public Authority is represented at the conference by its Acting Director General, Ms. Nouf Ali Behbehani. This participation reflects the State of Kuwait’s commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at combating desertification, land degradation, and drought, and promoting the sustainable management of natural resources, in line with Kuwait Vision 2035 and its environmental priorities.

Over two weeks, the conference will discuss a number of priority environmental issues, most notably the restoration of degraded lands, mitigating the effects of sand and dust storms, and enhancing resilience to climate change. It will also provide a platform for exchanging expertise and reviewing the latest scientific and technological solutions in the field of land and natural resource protection. Kuwait’s participation in this international forum embodies its commitment to continuing its contributions to global efforts aimed at protecting the environment, promoting the sustainability of natural resources, and building a more sustainable future for future generations.
